JP Chairman says he supports US visa policy

Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman and Opposition Deputy Leader Ghulam Muhammed Quader has said that he supports the new visa policy announced by the United States (US) for the purpose of free, fair and peaceful general elections in Bangladesh.

He said, “What has been said in the visa policy is in favor of the country and the people. Those who obstruct free and fair elections will not be allowed to enter the country. There will be punitive measures. I find nothing to be unhappy over the matter.”

JP Chairman said this in reply to queries from journalists before attending the bi-annual conference of the District Jatiya Party at Rifles Club in Tangail city on Monday (June 12) afternoon.

Pointing out that Bangladesh is now facing a similar situation as Sri Lanka, GM Quader said, “Our reserves have gone down, inflation has gone up, unemployment has increased and imports have decreased. All in all, we are witnessing a situation similar to Sri Lanka.”

The party’s general secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu, presidium member Abul Kashem, Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, Zahirul Islam Zahir, Mostafa Al Mahmud among others were present in the programme.
