One dengue patient dies, 21 hospitalised in last 24 hours in Khulna

One dengue patient died and 21 were admitted to deferent hospitals in the city during the past 24 hours till 8am today.

The deceased was identified as Depok ,37, son of Dinobondhu, hailed from Gojalia village under Kachua upazila in Bagerhat district, Dr Suhash Ranjan Halder, residential medical officer (RMO) of the KMCH, told BSS.

Depok was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital around 10.30 pm on August 26 with fever and died on August 28, hospital sources said.

Some 17 patients were released from the hospital during the last 24 hours till 8 am today, he said.

A total of 65 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in the KMCH in the district at present, Depok added.

Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr. Sazibur Rahman said, in the current year, a total of 792 patients were admitted to the KMCH and five dengue patients have died of dengue in the district so far.

While visiting the KMCH today, this reporter found that the dengue patients are receiving treatment at different wards of the medicine department. Some patients were being taken treated in bed and some were on the floor with mosquito nets.

Talking to BSS, Dr Robiul Hossain, Director of KMCH, said that at least 20 to 22 dengue patients are admitted to the hospital and 18 to 20 patients are released every day.
