Aush harvesting going on in full swing in Manikganj
The harvesting of Aush paddy is going on in full swing in all seven Upazilas of the district, the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said.
During the current season Aush was cultivated on 3731 hectares of land which is 731 hectares more than the previous year.
Earlier, a total of 4,000 small and marginal farmers got seed and fertilizer as incentives from the government for boosting the production of Aush paddy in the district during the current season.
DAE office sources said Aush paddy generally grows on alluvial soil and the cultivators are interested to cultivate the Aush paddy as they are getting good production. The government has been continuing the support to cultivate more land in the district.

During the current season the government had distributed Aush seed among 4000 poor and marginal farmers free of cost as incentive to boost the production of Aush in all seven Upazilas of the district, the Department of Agriculture Extension sources said.
Deputy Director of DAE Abu Muhammad Enyet ullah said the Aush cultivators are expecting a bumper production as favourable weather was prevailing all over the district, adding that, more than 65 percent of Aush has already been harvested in the district.
