Police stop Ganatantra Mancha march towards energy ministry

Police on Monday stopped the march of Ganatantra Mancha towards energy ministry at Zero Point near Bangladesh secretariat in Dhaka.

Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, held the march demanding uninterrupted power supply across Bangladesh and reducing price hikes of the essential commodities.

Prior to the march, it held a rally in front of the National Press Club where Rastra Sanskar Andolan chief coordinator Hasnat Quaiyum chaired.

He announced that the combine would hold Dhaka-Chattorgam road march from July 19 to July 21 as their next agitation programme.

Earlier, Ganatantra Mancha held a four-day Dhaka-Dinajpur road march from June 4 to June 7.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD president ASM Abdur Rob, Nagarik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq, Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, Bhashani Onusari Parishad member secretary Habibur Rahman Reezu and others spoke at the rally.

The rally was followed by a march towards energy ministry and several hundred leaders and activists of the combine took part in the march.
