The Jatiya Party (JP) has appointed Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu as secretary general after the death of Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu.

GM Quader, chairman of the party and deputy leader of the opposition in parliament, appointed him on Saturday (October 9).

An MP from Kishoreganj, Chunnu was the state minister for labour in the Sheikh Hasina-led cabinet during the 2014-2018 term. Prior to that he served as the state minister for youth and sports between November 2013 to January 2014.
