Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad, who has been undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital, has been kept on life support as his health condition deteriorated further.

Earshad put on life support around 4:15pm on Thursday. The former president is currently on the edge of life and death.

Ershad’s deputy press secretary Khandoker Delwar Jalali confirmed the news.

He said, “Health condition of the former president deteriorated suddenly. So, he was put on life support.”

Razzak Khan, deputy-office secretary of Jatiay Party, said, “JP Chairman Ershad’s younger brother GM Quader, who is currently acting chairman of the party, told me about of putting him (Ershad) on life support as his health state deteriorated further.”
