No passenger trains will ply amid lockdown
The deaths troll from deadly Covid-19 surpasses rapidly in Bangladesh. In this situation the government decided that no passenger trains will ply amid the countrywide lockdown from April 14. But freight and parcel train operations will continue to operate.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said this at a press conference held at Rail Bhaban in the city on Tuesday morning.
As per the plan, railway will operate parcel trains on four routes — Dhaka-Sylhet, Chattogram-Sarishabari, Khulna-Chilahati, and Dhaka-Panchagarh – to help farmers transport produce during the week-long strict restrictions, the minister said.
