Products that may see prices go up
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal is set to place a TK 5.68 lakh crore proposed national budget for 2020-21 fiscal year in the parliament on Thursday.
The budget will propose changes to duties on different products.
So, prices of several products are likely to increase once the national budget comes into effect.
Prices of imported packaged liquid milk, powdered milk and dairy products go up.
However, there is no possibility of increasing prices baby food.
Because of imposing new tariffs, the prices of imported luxury products like body sprays, cosmetics, juices and packaged foods may go up.
Due to the imposition of additional tariffs, the prices of all types of tobacco products may increase this time. Duties will be imposed according to the slab.
Internet costs are likely to go up because of increasing VAT. The cost of talking over mobile phone may also increase.
Registration and renewal fees for all types of vehicles except public transports and ambulances are increasing. As a result, the prices of vehicles may go up.
Another point is that the price of reconditioned cars may go up. Besides, prices of imported and locally made bicycles may increase.
Prices of imported smart mobile phones, ACs and motors may go up. Price of motorcycles and tires may high up because of increasing import duty.
