Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof. Golam Sabbir Sattar and other officials have been rescued after five and half hours.

Members of RAB, police and BGB rescued them at around 7:30pm on Wednesday.

Earlier, students confined the vice-chancellor and other university officials to the administrative building.

Clashes erupted at the university in the evening.

Witnesses said police started firing shotgun pellets and teargas shells at the quota protesters around 7:10pm when students started gathering at different places at RU.
