The Bangabandhu Bridge authorities collected Tk3,80,63,400 in toll from around 53,708 vehicles that crossed the bridge in the past 24 hours ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.

Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, executive engineer of Bangabandhu Bridge Site Office, confirmed the matter.

Homebound people are taking to the roads to reach their destinations outside the capital to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their near and dear ones. With the trend of exodus, the pressure of vehicles has increased on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway as well.
