Considering the sufferings of the low-income people and impact on price of commodities and fuel due to global crises, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has permitted the operations of battery-run rickshaw only on the Dhaka city roads.

Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader disclosed the Prime Minister’s directive while speaking at a programme at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Monday (May 20).

However, the rickshaws will not ply on the 22 highways as per the earlier decision.
