BNP announces one-point demand of govt resignation and dissolution of parliament

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a one-point demand for resignation of the government and dissolution of the parliament.

The party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the

announcement from a rally organized in front of BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan in the capital on Wednesday (July 12) afternoon.

BNP will continue the movement and struggle for this one-point demand in the future. As a part of this, Mirza Fakhrul announced a march programme on July 18 and 19.

Earlier, the BNP rally started at 2:00 pm on a makeshift stage on the road in front of the party’s central office at Nayapaltan. Central leaders of the party addressed the rally. The chief guest Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir addressed the rally at 5:30 PM.

He said a march will be held at metropolitan and district levels across the country on July 18, with the aim of realizing one-point demand to accelerate their resignation through this march. The march will be held for two days in the capital. On July 18 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm there will be a road march from Gabtoli to Jatrabari. On July 19 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from Abdullahpur to Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka. This march will be completely peaceful. This is our primary programme.

Mirza Fakhrul said the political parties who have been agitating against this government have unanimously decided that today we will make a joint announcement each. We have taken this decision of about 36 political parties and alliances. That decision is a simultaneous declaration of one-point demand of mass movement.
