Tamim to play despite not being 100 percent fit
Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal will play the first match of the three-match series against Afghanistan, commencing on Wednesday in Chattogram although he is not 100 percent fit.
Tamim Iqbal stated this at a press briefing on Tuesday.
I am not a 100 percent fit, but I have decided to play tomorrow. I am feeling better now. I will make the final decision regarding my participation in the next match after consulting with the medical team regarding my fitness”, he said.
Tigers will take on Afghanistan in the first ODI at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The Bangladesh team had a practice session on Tuesday morning, during which Tamim attended but refrained from batting or fielding.
Tamim Iqbal has been suffering from a back pain that had ruled him out of the lone Test against Afghanistan last month.
Afghanistan recently played a one-off Test in June, and they have returned now to compete in a three-match ODI and two-match T20I series in Chattogram and Sylhet, respectively.
