Coronavirus under control as Bangladesh logs two deaths in 24 hrs

When developed countries are struggling against the coronavirus infection, Bangladesh has been able to control the outbreak successfully. The country registered only two deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest number of deaths in the last 18 months.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the first death of coronavirus in the country on March 18 last year.

The lowest death was reported on May 5 of last year. Since then, death has been on the rise. Sometimes a little down, but never so down that registered on November 1.

According to DGHS press release on November, the two deaths were women who are from Dhaka district, meaning all other 63 districts recorded no deaths on November 1.

Of the deceased, one aged between 51 to 60 years while another 31 to 40 years. They both died while undergoing treatment in government hospitals.

Some 214 new cases were reported during the same period. With this, the total number of infections stood at 15,69,753 in the country.

Alongside, as many as 202 Covid-19 patients made recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 15,33,625.

Considering the sample test in a day, the coronavirus detection rate was 1.08 percent. So far, the average rate of detection was 15.14 percent. The recovery rate is 97.70 percent. The death rate was 1.78 percent.

During the period, 19,734 samples have been tested across the country, climbing the total test to 1,03,69,604.
