Green Line Paribahan has paid TK 33.5 lakh to Rasel Sarker, whose left leg was crushed by one of the buses of the transport company on Mayor Hanif Flyover in the capital, in accordance with the verdict of the High Court.

Writ petitioner’s lawyer Khandker Shamsul Haque Reza confirmed the information on Sunday (October 10).

He said, “Rasel got the last instalment of Tk 4 lakh on October 6. He received a total of Tk 33.42 lakh as compensation including his treatment expenses.”

On April 28, 2018, a luxury Green Line coach rear-ended the car Rasel was driving. The accident occurred on the slope of Mayor Md Hanif Flyover in Dholaipar, and caused Rasel to step outside of his car to assess the damage.

Although he signaled the bus not to drive away, bus driver Kabir Hossain– in his attempt to flee the scene– ran over Rasel, severing his left leg from the thigh down in the process.
