The government of Bangladesh has sent Rafiqul Islam, former officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonargaon Thana in Narayanganj, on early retirement.The announcement of his retirement came via a government notice issued by the ministry of home affairs on Monday.

According to the notice, Rafiqul has been sent to retirement upon completion of his 25 years of service in the force.

The notice also said that Rafiqul will receive all government provided facilities upon retirement as per rules.

He helped detain Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque along with a woman at a resort recently.

Earlier on April 5, Inspector Rafiqul Islam was withdrawn from his duty as OC of Sonargaon Thana and was transferred and attached to the Narayanganj Police Lines.
