Migrant workers waiting for Saudi tickets
The migrant workers of Saudi Arabia has crowded before the Saudi Airlines office at Hotel Sonargaon in city’s Karwan Bazar area to collect flight tickets.
Saudi Airlines authorities are giving tickets from April 17. They are also giving tickets for them who have missed the flights.
Expatriate workers gathered in front of the Saudi Airlines office from early morning. They came here from different parts of the country although problems due to countrywide strict lockdown.
During visit it was seen that health guidelines are being ignored by many expatriate workers.
Md Sumon, a Saudi expatriate who has come from Laksam in Cumilla, said “I have come here from Laksam expending Tk 4000/5000. I reached here early hours and completed my seheri by taking some food. I am waiting in the long queue in the heat wave, but I do not know when I will get the ticket”.
Jamal Uddin, a passenger who has come from Feni, said “I hired a private car and came to Dhaka during lockdown. It was very difficult to come to Dhaka. My flight was April 14. I can’t say when I will get the ticket”.
Another passenger named Ishrat Begun, who has come with a child, said we, specially the women, are facing huge sufferings to get tickets.
