Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year has celebrated symbolically without observing any outdoor programs due to the deadly attack of Covid-19 amid government enforced a week-long strict lockdown.

The government has enforced a week-long stricter restriction from April 14 to stem the alarming spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Though the Dhaka University’s Fine Arts Faculty completed all preparations for the main attraction of the Bangla New Year- Mongol Shovajatra like the previous years, but the traditional colourful  procession was not brought out this year.

Some people joined a symbolic Mongol Shovajatra on the faculty premises.

Dhaka University Vice-chancellor  Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman led the procession.
