Five women deadbodies have been rescued after a launch capsized in the Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj (04 April).

The launch named Sabit Al Hasan left Narayanganj terminal for Munshiganj loaded with about 50 passengers around 5:56pm and it sank near the third Shitalakkhya Bridge in Char Syedpur area after being hit by a “coaster tanker” around 6.15pm.

Members of Navy, Coast Guard and Fire Service and Civil Defence rescued the passengers apart from recovering bodies of five women.

A four-member committee has been formed to probe into the accident.
