A clash ensued between police and protesters in front of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Paltan area on Friday noon.

The clash took place after Jumma prayers over the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh.

A chase and counter-chase took place between the protesters and policemen. Police charged batons and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

A television journalist has been injured in the incident who has been admitted to a hospital.

Huge policemen have been deployed in the area.

Modi arrived in Dhaka on Friday morning to join the state program marking the golden jubilee celebration of country’s independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary.
