The government has appointed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Monirul Islam, also chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit under Dhaka Metropolitan Police, as the Additional Inspector General of Police of the Special Branch (SB).

The home ministry issued a gazette notification signed by Dhananjay Kumar Das, deputy secretary of the Public Security Division, in this regard on Sunday (March 14) morning.

Monirul was promoted to DIG of Bangladesh Police on February 14, 2016.
