Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Benazir Ahmed said exemplary punishment will be ensured over the rape and murder of an O level student in Kalabagan, Dhaka.

The IGP said made the opinion while addressing reporters after a program organized by the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in Segunbagicha in the capital on Friday (January 8).

He said, “We have arrested Anushka’s friend just after the incident. The victim’s family filed a case already against him. Details can be known after investigation.”

Post mortem and DNA tests are being conducted to confirm the rape before her death, he added.

CRAB president Abul Khayer, general secretary Asaduzzaman Biku, RAB DG Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, and others attended the program.

Earlier, on Thursday (January 7) police recovered the body of Anushka Nur Amin, a tenth grader, from Dhanmondi’s Anwar Khan Modern Hospital.
