Two motorcyclists were killed as a covered van hit their vehicle in Bashundhara area of the capital on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Ajmir Khan Lami, 30, son of Mijanur Rahman, and Amir Hossain Riaz, 20, son of Akhter Hossain, both of them hailing from Daskhin Badda area.

The accident took place at 7:00 am, leaving them severely injured.

Later, police rescued the duo and brought them to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared them dead.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, also in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said that the bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsies.

Police arrested the covered van driver.
