Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has issued directives to prepare a masterplan over rural roads and infrastructure.

She made the directives at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday (November 17).

PM joined the meeting through video conference from her official residence Gonobhabon. After the meeting, Senior Secretary of the Planning Division Md Ashadul Islam briefed media.

He said, “Today’s ECNEC meeting has approved the first amendment of the Important Rural Infrastructure Development Project: Barisal, Jhalakati and Pirojpur project. During the discussion on the project at the meeting, the Prime Minister issued directives to prepare a master plan on rural roads and infrastructure.”

“The Prime Minister said we are doing a lot of work on rural roads and infrastructure. Whether the works are real or not, we have to check out thoroughly. The quality of works should be ensured. Do not freeze the road. Because when water collects on the road, it gets ruined,” he added.

He further said, “Prime Minister has told over making another master plan on which road and where it will be done. The Prime Minister has directed to prepare a master plan on rural roads and infrastructure under the leadership of the local government department.”
