The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Lakshmipur lawmaker Kazi Shahid Islam Papul, his wife MP Selina Islam, daughter Wafa Islam and sister-in-law Jesmin Akhter on allegations of embezzling Tk 2.31 crore and illegal transactions of Tk148 crore.

ACC Deputy Director Salahuddin filed the case on Wednesday.

Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, the spokesman for the anti-graft body, confirmed the news.

Earlier, the anti-graft body approved the case in a meeting held at its head office.

According to investigation, Tk148 crore has been laundered by the MP couple through Jesmin’s bank account.

Earlier, ACC imposed a travel ban on Papul’s family members.
