Sinha death: Whole incident occurred in one and a half minute

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Additional Director General (operation) Col Tofayel Mustafa Sorwar has that the whole incident of Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan murder had occurred in just one and a half minute.

He said, “The incident of Sinha murder is being analysed deeply. We are analysing every second of the one-and-a-half-minute shooting incident. Every second is very important. Data in this regard has already been collected.”

He told this to media on Friday (August 21) after visiting Shamlapur police check post in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar where the killing took place.

Replying to a query, He said, “Why did this firing (shooting) take place? What happened in the shortest time that Sinha was shot?”

He further said, “Or what Liyakat is saying, Sinha aimed a pistol to shoot. What happened in this one and a half minute? Did the situation really happen like a pistol open? And why did he (Liyakat) fire?”

Data in this connection has been collected, he added.

He said, “This case is highly sensational and important. The accused have been brought to the spot as part of the investigation.”

He also said that the investigation will be conducted in a way so that the guilty cannot be spared and no innocent be punished.

Col Tofayel Mustafa Sorwar said, “There is one thing that Justice hurried, Justice buried; Justice delayed, Justice denied. We working considering the thing.”

Earlier around 1:00pm, RAB took the three main accused of Sinha murder case to the spot.

They were suspended Teknaf OC Pradeep Kumar Das, inspector Liyakat Ali and SI Nanda Dulal Rakshit.

On July 31 night, Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was killed in police firing at a checkpost at Shamlapur area under Baharchhara union along the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive.

Later, his sister filed a case where she made Baharchhara Investigation Centre’s Inspector Liyakat Ali as prime accused and Teknaf Police Station OC as the accused number two. Besides, seven more policemen were made accused in the case.
