The date for the election of two city corporations for the worship of Saraswati is not being followed. The election of the two cities will be held on the scheduled date of the commission.

Earlier, lawyer Ashok Kumar Ghosh filed a writ petition with the Saraswati Puja in the concerned branch of the High Court stating that the date of the Dhaka City election was religiously contentious.

The court on Monday set the date for the order on Tuesday, following a writ hearing. Lawyer Ashok Kumar Ghosh heard the petition in the court. Deputy Attorney General Noor Us Sadiq was in the state.

The writ also said that the Saraswati idol could not be given away till the end of the fifth. As a result, directions were asked to change the date of the election of the Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation for the first week of February.
