1000 workers from each upazila to be sent abroad per annum
State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed said the government has taken a decision to send on an average 1000 workers to abroad from each upazila per annum.
The government took such an initiative in a bid to encourage migration process in those districts where migration lags behind.
Imran Ahmed revealed this information during the question-answer session on Thursday.
Till now, Bangladesh has sent workers to 173 countries of the world.
The government has a plan to formulate upazila-based database to determine that how many workers are going abroad and how many workers are returning country.
