Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has claimed that dengue has been brought under control in the area.<\/p>\n
He made this claim during a view exchange meeting with the reporters after participating in a public engagement programme to kill mosquitoes to prevent the spread of dengue disease adjacent to Basabo Kalimandir area on Saturday (August 26).<\/p>\n
DSCC Mayor said, \u201cControl rooms have been opened to monitor mosquito control activities in 75 wards of DSCC. Through this, our daily activities are also extensive. Through this activity we have been able to bring (dengue outbreak) under control.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cOn Thursday (August 24), number of dengue patients dropped below 70. However, we do not want to take it as relief yet. It\u2019s still rainy season. Monsoon is not over here. It rained yesterday and Friday. So, the water will have been logging after a while. As it is a fully rainy season, we have accelerated the field level activities.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cSince we have been able to control it, if we can bring it to the level of elimination, then there will be no increase in the future. Our goal is to destroy mosquito breeding grounds. The more source reduction we can do, the more effective our operations will be. That is why we have taken this activity to increase public involvement.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stating the civic responsibility of the local residents to keep their premises, houses, courtyards clean and destroy water reservoirs to prevent dengue disease, Mayor Taposh said, \u201cAfter reviewing all the data, those wards among 75 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation recorded more than 10 dengue patients, we have \u2018marked red\u2019. Marked red means dangerous. The number of patients may increase there. From that apprehension, we marked it red and involved the local people. Schools, mosques, madrasas, house owners, owners of all establishments, all social organizations, Red Crescent, Scouts will be involved in these wards.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cI thank everyone who voluntarily came forward and participated in our programme. It is the civic responsibility of the local residents to keep all places including their own buildings, houses, courtyards clean and to destroy water reservoirs.\u201d<\/p>\n
Apart from this, Mayor Taposh participated in public involvement activities to prevent the spread of dengue in Ward No. 5 of Hazaribagh and Ward No. 53 and 60 of Kadamtoli.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
