The Election Commission (EC) has given a
\nclarification that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal’s
\ncomments were presented distortedly and incorrectly in media on the day of
\nBarishal City Corporation (BCC) elections.<\/p>\n
In the clarification, it said in response to a volley of questions from
\njournalists about the attack on Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s mayoral candidate
\nfor recently held BCC polls Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, the CEC wanted
\nto know from the journalists with concern about the physical condition of
\nFaizul Karim.<\/p>\n
Different media published and broadcast news incorrectly and distortedly that
\nthe CEC insulted the Islami Andolan candidate and wished his death, it also
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Even the EC came to know that leaders of different political parties made
\ncomments insulting the EC at discussions and rallies, according to the
\nclarification.<\/p>\n
The CEC said he didn’t make any comments that can insult and tarnish the
\nimage of the Islami Andolan candidate.<\/p>\n
He also said even after that if anyone felt hurt at his comments, he is
\nreally sorry for that.<\/p>\n
Overall the EC expected that political leaders and journalists would make any
\ncomments and present news relating to the EC with utmost responsibility and
\nalertness.<\/p>\n
