President Mohammed Shahabuddin has urged all sides concerned including the Election Commission (EC) and political parties to come forward to hold a free, fair and participatory elections.<\/p>\n
The president made the urge when three Election Commissioners and EC Secretary led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal paid a courtesy call to him on Monday (June 19).<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cThe election is very important in democratic process. Overall cooperation will be provided to ensure peaceful atmosphere during polls for the sake of holding a free and fair election.\u201d<\/p>\n
The president said, \u201cNecessary measures must be taken after identifying risky polling centers to make the elections neutral and participatory.\u201d<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that the current Election Commission (EC) will be able to hold all elections of the country in free, fair and peaceful manners.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, the president was formally congratulated on behalf of the election commission.<\/p>\n
CEC Kazi Habibul Awal said, \u201cThey are trying to hold all elections in neutral and peaceful manners since taking the charges.\u201d<\/p>\n
He further said, \u201cElectronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are being used successfully except some technical flaws. Cooperation from the executive department is being received.\u201d<\/p>\n
He expected for cooperation and directives from the president to hold the upcoming general election in free and peaceful manners.<\/p>\n
