Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a fugitive convict from Narayanganj, who was sentenced to life term imprisonment in a murder case filed with Sudharam Police Station in Noakhali 16 years ago.<\/p>\n
The convict is Md Masud, 47, son of Abu Taher. He is a resident of Maijdi Masterpara area under Noakhali municipality.<\/p>\n
A team of RAB-11 detected Masud with the help of information technology and arrested him from Meghna Pulpant Paper Mill residential area under Sonargaon police station of the district on Monday.<\/p>\n
RAB-11 Noakhali camp company commander Mahmudul Hasan confirmed the matter in a press release issued on Tuesday (June 13).<\/p>\n
According to the press release, convict Masud and other accused in the case attacked Henzu Miah, a neighbour of Masud, over land dispute in March 2006. After six days of treatment at a local hospital, Henzu Miah succumbed to his injuries. His father Chand Miah then filed a murder case with Sudharam Police Station.<\/p>\n
The accused went into hiding after the incident.<\/p>\n
A court in Noakhali in a verdict convicted Masud and sentenced him to life term imprisonment in the murder case.<\/p>\n
