it has become difficult for them to run their families. So, the consumers have demanded strict intervention of the government in this regard.<\/p>\n
On Monday (October 11), after monitoring several markets in the capital, it was found that bottled oil is being sold at Tk154-155 per liter, after increasing Tk 2 to Tk 5 per liter. Besides, unbottled oil is being sold at Tk 144-150 per liter while Palm oil is being sold at Tk 140.<\/p>\n
When asked, retailers told that even a week ago, palm oil was sold at Tk 130 to Tk 136 in the open market. At the same time last year,<\/p>\n
the oil was sold at Tk 88-93. The price has gone up by Tk 45-50 in one year. The prices of bottled and unbottled soybeans have also gone up during the year.<\/p>\n
Mamtaz Uddin, a consumer who came to Karwan Bazar, said, \u201cI bought oil a week ago at Tk 150-152 per liter. Today I had to buy it for Tk 155. Besides, onion costs Tk 80 per kg while chili Tk 180-200 per kg, rice Tk 80. The price of everything is rising.<\/p>\n
Traders are making price hike as they wish. We are being held hostage by the syndicate.<\/p>\n
Azharul Islam in Hatirpul market said, \u201cOur income during coronavirus situation has gone down. Now it is so difficult to get money for travel and house rent.<\/p>\n
At this time the prices of essential commodities are increasing every day. The government should bring the market under control keeping in mind the needs of country\u2019s people.<\/p>\n
Abdul Matin, a wholesaler in New Market, said that the importers are increasing prices of oils with excuses of the world market price.<\/p>\n
We can no longer sell with lower price after buying with higher price. We are not getting benefits. But we are keeping less oil to keep the business on the run. The profit goes to the companies who import oils.<\/p>\n
