{"id":664,"date":"2019-07-21T17:03:21","date_gmt":"2019-07-21T17:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.jonotarsomoy.com\/?p=664"},"modified":"2019-07-21T17:03:21","modified_gmt":"2019-07-21T17:03:21","slug":"uk-urges-iran-to-release-stena-impero","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jonotarsomoy.com\/en\/2019\/07\/21\/uk-urges-iran-to-release-stena-impero\/","title":{"rendered":"UK urges Iran to release \u2018Stena Impero\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The foreign secretary of UK has urged Iran to reverse its &#8220;illegal&#8221; seizure of a British-flagged tanker in the Gulf.<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Hunt said it &#8220;raises very serious questions&#8221; about the security of British and international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>It comes as Iran released new footage of the capture on Friday of the Stena Impero.<\/p>\n<p>Tehran said the vessel was &#8220;violating international maritime rules&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Mr Hunt said Iran viewed this as a &#8220;tit-for-tat situation&#8221; following the detention of an Iranian tanker in Gibraltar.<\/p>\n<p>But he said &#8220;nothing could be further from the truth&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The Stena Impero&#8217;s owners said they wanted access at the port of Bandar Abbas to the 23 crew members, who they said are in good health.<\/p>\n<p>BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner said it appears the Iranian Revolutionary Guard was &#8220;quite prepared to push this right up to the brink of a conflict, yet probably stopping just short of one&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><em>Agencies<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonotarsomoy.com\/fn\/21\/07\/<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The foreign secretary of UK has urged Iran to reverse its &#8220;illegal&#8221; seizure of a British-flagged tanker in the Gulf.
