Proponents of Hefazat-e-Islam made the attempt adjacent to Baitul Mukarram mosque in the capital after Juma prayers on Friday (December 4).<\/p>\n
After the prayers, protesters took position on the steps of the north gate of the mosque and chanted various slogans. Police told them to leave the place, but they were continuing to chant different slogans like \u201cWant to fight, be united all Muslims of the world\u201d. After chanting slogans for half an hour, they went down the stairs.<\/p>\n
Later, at around 2:00 pm, a group of devotees tried to run out through the north gate of the mosque. Then the police stopped them. They tried to cross the police barrier towards Bijayanagar. But police dispersed them with barricades at the Paltan intersection.<\/p>\n
Motijheel Zone ADC Enamul Haque Mithu said, \u201cAfter the prayers, a group of people broke the barricade and tried to go towards Nightingale intersection and Shahbagh. They were agitated when law enforcers stopped them. Later police dispersed them.\u201d<\/p>\n
