Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said, \u2018Registration for online news portal is an ongoing process. The investigation agency will give positive reports for the portals which are fair. They will get chance for registration.\u2019<\/p>\n
The Minister said this while replying to a query at an Eid reunion and view exchange meeting at the ministry\u2019s conference room in the Secretariat on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He said, \u2018I had said before the Eid that the list of efficient news portal would be published. We got no objection from several agencies over 44 news portals including 10 daily newspapers. Names of daily newspapers have yet not come. So, we have decided to release names of online edition of daily newspapers together.\u2019<\/p>\n
He further said, \u2018Many established news portals were included in the list released. We will try in second phase. We want to give registration to country\u2019s all standard news portal.\u2019<\/p>\n
In reply to another query, Hasan Mahmud said, \u2018Domain of many online news portals of the list were not found. It might be. We did not investigate. Government agencies conducted investigation. Actually, some 4,000 news portals have applied for registration. How many of them had good offices? Steps would be taken against the portals got approval but they not active.<\/p>\n
