India are all set to take on Sri Lanka in the first T20I match of the New Year at the Barsapra Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.<\/p>\n
But controversy has struck the much expected Twenty-20 clash as Devajit Saikia, Secretary Assam Cricket Association (ACA), said that posters, banners and message board will not be allowed inside the stadium during this encounter.<\/p>\n
Fans will be only allowed to carry their phones, keys and purse into the ground on Sunday and nothing else. Placards showing \u20184\u2019 or \u20186\u2019 which are standard at any T20 clash, won\u2019t be allowed inside the stadium as well.<\/p>\n
The secretary of Assam Cricket Association (ACA), Devajit Saikia has said that Posters and banners will not be allowed inside the Barsapra stadium for the T20I clash between India and Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n
With Guwahati\u2019s Police Commissioner MP Gupta by his side, Saikia said that the steps taken had nothing to do with the ongoing protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).<\/p>\n
\u2018Everybody is concerned, not just the people of Assam. This is an international event and will have heightened security measures. We have to be prepared\u2019 Saikia said. A BCCI official said that the placards with \u20184\u2019 and \u20186\u2019 printed on them are usually arranged by the series sponsor but will abide with the decision taken by the local authorities. Around 27,000 tickets have been sold for the match and a full is expected on Sunday, so BCCI representative Mamon Majumdar has urged fans to \u2018behave very nicely because people from outside, other states will watch us and say spectators are very well behaved.\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
