{"id":1776,"date":"2019-10-14T17:37:35","date_gmt":"2019-10-14T17:37:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.jonotarsomoy.com\/?p=1776"},"modified":"2019-10-14T17:37:35","modified_gmt":"2019-10-14T17:37:35","slug":"wb-projects-7-2pc-gdp-growth-for-bangladesh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jonotarsomoy.com\/en\/2019\/10\/14\/wb-projects-7-2pc-gdp-growth-for-bangladesh\/","title":{"rendered":"WB projects 7.2pc GDP growth for Bangladesh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The World Bank (WB) has projected 7.2 per cent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for Bangladesh in 2019-20 fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>The projection came from the WB\u2019s, \u2018Bangladesh Development Update,\u2019 report released at its Agargaon office in Dhaka on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>World Bank predicted 8.2 per cent GDP growth but it will be 7.2 per cent, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Inflation is likely to rise modestly for reasons which include increased natural gas prices and possible crop production losses due to flood, the report explains.<\/p>\n<p>Reforms in the financial sector, closing the infrastructure gap, and implementation of the Annual Development Plan are crucial for the country\u2019s progress, the report adds.<\/p>\n<p>It warns of uncertainty in global economy, domestic risk in financial sector and exchange rate appreciation that may create a challenge for Bangladesh\u2019s competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, Mercy Miyang Tembon said, \u201cBangladesh\u2019s economy is projected to maintain strong growth backed by sound macroeconomic fundamentals and progress in structural reforms.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The World Bank (WB) has projected 7.2 per cent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for Bangladesh in 2019-20 fiscal year.
